On August 1, 2024, the Chinese Cuisine and Hospitality Association of Canada, in collaboration with Markham Financial Services Halifax office and the local media team INHALIFAX, held a grand ceremony in Halifax to inaugurate the “Atlantic Provinces Chapter”, and awarded Mr. Eric Yeung, a local Chinese leader, the Honorary President of the Chapter. The event opened a new chapter in Chinese food culture in the Maritimes.
Guests attending the ceremony included Ms. Lena Diab, Member of Parliament and former Minister of Immigration of Nova Scotia, Steve Craig, Canada’s Minister of Fisheries, Eric Yeung, a Halifax Chinese leader and founder of May Garden Restaurant, Darrell J. Moss, Vice President of Sales for Russell Hendrix, Canada’s largest commercial kitchenware distributor, and his Halifax Regional Sales Manager, Mr. Moss, as well as the Halifax Regional Sales Manager, Mr. Moss. Moss, Vice President of Sales for Russell Hendrix, Canada’s largest commercial kitchenware distributor, and its Halifax Regional Sales Representative Carlos, as well as more than 30 representatives from the local restaurant, financial and real estate service industries.
In her speech, Catherine Hou, President of the Association, reviewed the important history of the Chinese Food Association since its establishment and looked forward to the future development of the Chinese food industry in Canada and China. She emphasized that with more and more immigrants settling in the Maritimes, the demand for and influence of Chinese food culture in the region is rising. The establishment of the Atlantic Provinces Chapter aims to help Chinese food owners improve their management and operations through training, promotion and cooperation, and to promote the modernization and professionalization of Chinese food brands. The association is also committed to building bridges with other cultures and industries to promote cross-cultural exchange and understanding.
